Information Literacy Program at Decker Library

A toolkit for MICA's Information Literacy Program

When To Use

This activity is useful for first-year students and/or ELL students to help them distinguish between different types of sources and think critically about the various uses of different online sources.

Tools Needed

An example using a PR piece, a review and an academic journal focusing on Kara Walker.

Another example, adapted from Ian McDermott at LaGuardia Community College, CUNY.

Time Needed

This activity takes ~10 minutes.

Leave time for discussion of what different types of sources might be useful for.
