C.R.A.P. Test

Use this simple test to help you decide if a website is reliable or not.

Here's a way to remember some things to be aware of when you want to evaluate a webpage. Does it pass the "C.R.A.P. Test?"

C  - CURRENCY  Is it current? Is there a copyright, or date when the page was last updated? Up-to-date?  Do the links work?

R - RELIABILITY -  are the sources provided so that the information on the website could be verified? Are there words mispelled, inaccurate statements, (this is often a clue that it's an unreliable source)?

A - AUTHORITY -  Who is the author, organization or company responsible for the webpage? You can usually find this information from the "About" or "About us" link at the top or bottom of the webpage.

P - PURPOSE - who sponsors the website? Does this sponsorship affect the content? Is it unbiased, well-balanced or is it Propaganda? Is there advertising?
